PRESS RELEASE: FEBRUARY 1999

Sander Geophysics Limited (SGL) is the recipient of the Roland Groome Award for 1998. Terry Long, Director of Maintenance, was presented with the award in Toronto.  One Roland Groome Award is granted each year by Transport Canada to “an organization engaged in aircraft maintenance that has demonstrated that its day to day operations are of an exceptionally high standard.”

Sander Geophysics specializes in high resolution airborne surveys for environmental monitoring, and petroleum and mineral exploration.  For over 40 years the company has flown airborne magnetic, and radiometric surveys worldwide using fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. SGL currently owns, operates and maintains a fleet of seven specialized survey aircraft.  SGL's combined headquarters/hangar is located at the Ottawa International Airport.

Sander Geophysics is a founding member of the International Airborne Geophysics Safety Association (IAGSA) which promotes the safe operation of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft on airborne geophysical surveys.  SGL has been an active participant in IAGSA’s development of safety policies and procedures for the airborne geophysical survey industry.  SGL is proud of its perfect safety record, and attributes its safe operations to the quality and experience of its field personnel, flight operations crew and management staff.  Sander Geophysics is pleased to have its stringent aircraft maintenance procedures and dedicated staff recognized by this award.
