Junior Aeronautical Engineer

Job Location: Ottawa, ON

The Junior Aeronautical Engineer will be responsible for managing technical aspects of aircraft modifications under the overall direction of the Aeronautical Project Engineer and Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities of the Position

  • Advanced knowledge concerning the specification, design, integration, test and certification of avionics systems;
  • Devise and oversee tests required to demonstrate compliance with airworthiness standards;
  • Generate applicable drawings and reports;
  • Direct the work of AutoCAD designers to achieve project goals;
  • Coordinate with Aircraft Maintenance and design and development departments as necessary on relevant aspects of design and approval duties;
  • Provide timely technical support to field crews as required;
  • Understand, comply and promote all company safety precautions and policies including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; and
  • Other duties as required to complete projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Engineering degree in relevant discipline including eligibility for designation as a Professional Engineer (PEO, Professional Engineers Ontario);
  • Experience in obtaining airworthiness approvals, such as Limited Supplementation type certificates relating to modification of aircraft for airborne geophysical survey use would be considered an asset;
  • Successful completion of the Transport Canada Aircraft Certification Specialty Course or equivalent considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational experience as required to direct and oversee the work of CAD designers/drafters;
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with various stakeholders i.e. suppliers, vendors, aircraft certification authorities and other employees;
  • Excellent report writing skills;
  • Familiarity with CAD principles and techniques for technical drawings; and
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
